This series of live performance videos was commissioned to launch the new music project for ‘Miss Kiddy And The Cads’, showcasing their vintage arrangements of modern classics.

The safe approach would have been to pre-record the tracks, then have the band mime all their parts. However, we opted to record the sound and picture simultaneously in order to capture a truly live and authentic sound, and to feature the quality of their musicianship. Once we had a performance the band were happy with, we replayed it into the room and re-filmed little details and close-ups that would be helpful in the edit. Whilst the set up and filming was a little harder to achieve, this hybrid approach gave us the best of both worlds and meant we could achieve a tangible and authentic result whilst also keeping costs down by using fewer and better cameras. The band took their live performance away and mixed and mastered it to a high level.

To create the vintage look and feel, we payed close attention to the colours and styling at the production design stage, and then enhanced the look in the grade with sepia tones, and a golden glow.
